What UWW CEO Is All About

At colleges and universities across not only the U.S. but also around the world, the field of study designated Entrepreneurship has become a leading subject at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. According to the 2011 Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) U.S. Report, younger adults (18-24 years old) are more likely to start a business than older adults, and in particular college graduates are more inclined to pursue entrepreneurship*.

The Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) is the premier network for these young entrepreneurship students. With chapters on university campuses across North America and beyond, CEO currently supports entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurial activities of over 240 chapters in 43 states.

What is UWW CEO's Mission? The University of Wisconsin - Whitewater CEO chapter's mission is to inform, support and inspire college students to be entrepreneurial and to seek opportunity through enterprise creation. 

Why Join CEO?  With a diverse entrepreneurial community linked to a global network, CEO provides students with tools and experiences that cannot get anywhere else. Inspirational Guest Speakers comprised of Company Founders, demanding and rewarding Leadership Positions, business building workshops, Networking Social Events, the Warhawk Business Plan Competition, the Business Pitch Contest, the National CEO Conference, and Preparation for Launch Pad, student startup accelerator (if desired) and much more.

We believe that by mixing brilliant minds from many disciplines, creativity and resourcefulness can be brought to new heights. CEO members are motivated, energetic and intelligent students who want to surround themselves with other individuals who want to learn about the world of entrepreneurship and the possibilities it holds.

The CEO National Conference is an event put on by the parent CEO organization, headquartered in Chicago. It is an annual event that brings together visionaries, student entrepreneurs, and advisors together to network and compete in nationally recognized competitions such as: The National Elevator Pitch Competition. CEO chapters across the nation can submit to win multiple awards during the conference. Some of them are: Best Chapter Award, Best Student Leader Award, Best Advisor Award, and Best Chapter Marketing Plan. Along with awards, there are multiple keynote speakers who are successful entrepreneurs in almost every industry. It is a great chance to get your CEO chapter's name out there and connect with like-minded individuals who want to change the world. 

We also have direct link to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Launch Pad program. Launch Pad provides student entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn critical startup skills, receive 1 on 1 coaching from experienced faculty and entrepreneurs, participate in weekly roundtables. Eligible students can also receive independent study credit for participating in Launch Pad. Launch Pad training and roundtables are conducted at the world class Whitewater Innovation Center. Launch Pad Scholars also have the opportunity to locate their startup business within the Whitewater Innovation Center.
